Skateboard / Street Graphics (1980s–present)
Jim Phillips' screaming hand logo, VCJ's Santa Cruz board graphics, and Pushead's Thrasher illustrations established a visual vocabulary for skateboarding: weird cartoon anatomy, eyeballs and skulls in psychedelic settings, horror-comedy hybrids with heavy outline and vivid colour. The graphic tradition of youth cultures that perform transgression as identity — simultaneously menacing and absurd.
Fête poster
This time it drew a huge screaming skull, surrounded by jagged pink, green and blue lettering. The tradition picks the kind of subject, not the particular one, so another attempt would give you a different cartoon grotesque, in different colours and a different arrangement.
